βTo take four corners of the world in our heart.β (SU 1985: art 3.6)
I am Sr. Mariana Terok. I made my perpetual vows in 2019. Presently, I am studying English at ELSPM (English Language Studies for Pastoral Ministry), Melbourne - Australia.
Who and what am I looking for? This question I asked as I journey my vocation as "SJMJ sister". Becoming a SJMJ sister requires a long process of formation and guidance. Through this process my motivation is further refined. "I want to seek Jesus and follow Him.β In my reflection, I realized that the answer was very ideal. It is confirmed as I do the mission entrusted by the Congregation to me. "Later on, you will understand". My first mission was in a hospital, in the nutrition installation and then in financial administration. I was happy to carry out the task. However, a year later I got new assignment to study at Pineleng Major Seminary, at philosophy Department. With all my limitations, I accepted the assignment "Yes, I will try, Sister". That was my answer to my superior. Four years passed and I was finally able to complete my study. One thing that I was grateful for was the support of prayers and attention from my fellow sisters in St. Joseph community, Manado.
My next task was teaching in Junior High School and accompanying the girls in our dormitory. I was excited about the assignment. However, the task only lasted for few months. I got a new task to study English in Australia. "Oh my God!" It was my response at the time. My English was poor but I accepted that task. At first, many things I didn't understand in the lesson, yet, day by day my language was improving. I really thank to Sr. Margaret Bently FMA. Academic Manager in ELSPM and my teacher as well, and all other teachers and staff for their encouragement.
I am happy to be a SJMJ sister. The spirituality to always 'ready' has coloured the journey of my vocation. In that spirit I began to find the answers to the questions who and what I am looking for.
Advice of Fr. Mathias Wolff; a true JMJ sister must carry in her heart four corner of the world be my motivation. The spirit of apostolic availability which is our Charism must remain in my heart as my commitment to be in SJMJ Congregation.
